John becomes a
Googler

– After 12 years teaching at Brigham Young University and contributing to the
entrepreneurship program, John shifted gears and joined Google as Head of
Operations for Google Fiber in Provo UT. It was an unexpected twist that
developed due to John’s involvement with the Provo City-owned fiber network
that Google Fiber purchased in mid-2013.
John became a “Noogler” (see photo to right; new Googler, which is in turn a Google employee) on October 7. He’s been impressed by the company thus far and hopes that he can contribute to its success in coming to Utah. Google Fiber is a relatively new effort by Google to bring high-speed Internet access to as many people as possible. John says he will miss the teaching, the students, and his co-workers at BYU.
